2024 Annual BBQ & Silent Auction Recap

On August 28, 2024, families, staff, and community supporters gathered at Boulton Avenue Child Care Centre for our Annual BBQ and Silent Auction. The event raised funds for program resources and renovations, provided opportunities for community connection, and celebrated the children and families we serve.

Attendance and atmosphere

• Our guests included current families, alumni, staff, and local neighbours.

• Weather: clear and mild; outdoor activities moved forward as planned.

• Atmosphere: relaxed and family-friendly, with activities for children

Fundraising:

• Silent auction

• BBQ food sales and donations

• Raffle and games

Net proceeds will be allocated to two priority projects:

• Playground equipment upgrades

• Learning materials and classroom resources

Program and activities

• BBQ food service was run by staff and volunteers

• Children’s activities: face painting, bubble play, bouncy castle

• Professional Photographers provide photos for family

Volunteers and staff contributions

• Volunteers supported set-up, food service, auction monitoring, and clean-up.

Feedback and lessons learned

• Positive feedback: attendees appreciated the welcoming environment, variety of activities, and clear allergy-friendly food
